Tassel Doll Vest!

This darling vest, complete with little dolls to play with, is done in a fast moving V-Stitch. It's perfect for under a coat or just to wear around the house when the temperature dips.Plenty More Crochet Vest Patterns Here!

Tassel Doll Vest for Girls

Materials: Worsted weight yarn in color of choice such as Red Heart Super Saver or Caron Pounder: 5 (6, 7, 8, 9,10) ounces depending on size of vest

For Tassel Doll you will need a couple of yards of yellow, 6 inches red, small scrap of felt for the face or you can embroider the face directly on the tassel

Hook size: K /6mm

Gauge: 1 v-stitch = 1 inch 2 rows = 1 inch

INSTRUCTIONS: Pattern is written for size 4, with sizes 6, 8, 10. 12 in parenthesis.

Back

Row 1: Starting at lower edge make a ch of 39 (45, 45,51, 51) sts to measure 13 (15, 15, 16, 16) inches. Sc in 2nd oh from hook, sc in each ch across. 38 (44, 44, 50, 50) sc. Ch 3 (to count as one dc), turn.

Row 2: Skip first 2 sc, *in next sc make dc, ch 2 and dc ... V-st made; skip next 2 sc. Repeat from * across to within last 2 sc, skip next sc, dc in last sc . . . 12 (14, 14, 16, 16) V-stitches and one dc at each end. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Sc between first and 2nd dc, *ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, sc between next 2 dc. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 2, skip last ch-2, sc in turning chain sp. Ch 4, turn.

Row 4: Dc in first sc—half V-st made; * V-st in next sc. Repeat from * across to within last sc, in last sc make dc, ch 1 and dc ... half V-st made. Ch 1, turn.

Row 5: Sc in first dc, ch 1, * sc between next 2 dc, ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 1, skip one ch st on turning ch, sc in next ch. Ch, 3, turn.

Row 6: Skip first sc, * V-st in next sc. Repeat from * across to within last sc, dc In last sc. Ch 1, turn. Repeat last 4 rows (3rd through 6th row) for Pattern.

Work in Pattern until total length is 9 (9, 10, 10, 11) inches, ending with 3rd (3rd, 5th, 5th, 3rd) row. At end of last row omit turning chain. Turn.

Armhole Shaping

Row 1: Sl st in each st across to 2nd sc, ch 3, * V-st in next sc. Repeat from * across to within last 2 sc, dc in next sc. Do not work over remaining st. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc between first and 2nd dc, ch 2, continue in Pattern across, ending with ch 2, skip ch-2 sp, sc in ch-3 sp. Ch 3, turn.

Row 3: Skip first sc, *V-st in next sc. Repeat from * across to within last sc, dc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. If necessary, repeat last 2 rows (2nd and 3rd rows) alternately until there remain 8 (9, 10, 11, 12) V-stitches plus one dcat each end. Ch 1, turn.

Next Row: Repeat 2nd Row. Ch, 4, turn.

Following Row: Repeat 4th row of Back. Ch 1, turn. Work in Pattern until length from first row of armhole shaping, ending with a V-st Row, is 4 (5, 5, 6, 6) inches. Ch 1, turn.

Neck Shaping: . . . .Row 1: Work in Pattern until there are 3 (4, 4, 4, 4) Sc. Ch 4, turn.

Rows 2 and 3: Work in Pattern across. Break off and fasten. Work across other end of last row worked before neck shaping to correspond with opposite side.

Left Front . . .

Row 1: Starting at lower edge, make a ch of 21 (21, 24, 24, 27) sts.

Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across ... 20 (20, 23, 23, 26) Sc. Ch 3 (to count as one dc), turn.

Row 2: Work as for 2nd row of Back ... 6 (6, 7, 7, 8) V-stitches and one dc at each end. Ch 1, turn.

Rows 3, 4, 5 and 6: Work as for rows 3, 4, 5 and 6 on Back.

Repeat last 4 rows (3rd through.6th rows) for Pattern.

Work in Pattern until total length is 9 (9, 10, 10, 11) inches ending with 3rd (3rd, 5th, 5th, 3rd) row.

At end of last row omit turning chain. Turn.

Armhole Shaping: . . .

Row 1: SI st in each st across to 2nd sc, ch 3, * V-st in next sc. Repeat from * across until there are 4 (4, 5, 6, 6) V-stitches, dc in next sc—dec made at front edge. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc between, first and 2nd dc, ch 2 and continue in Pattern across, ending with ch 2, skip ch-2 sp, sc in ch-3 sp. Ch 3, turn.

Row 3: Skip first sc, * V-st in next sc. Repeat from * across to within last sc dc in last sc-dec made at front edge. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat last 2 rows (2nd and 3rd rows) alternately until shaping at armhole edge is same as on Back.

Then, keeping armhole edge straight, if necessary continue front shaping as before until there remain 3 (4, 4, 4, 4) sc. Ch 4, turn.

Work even in Pattern until length from first row of armhole shaping, ending at armhole edge, is 5 (6, 6, 7, 7) inches. Break off and fasten.

Right Front: Work to correspond with Left Front, reversing shapings.

Block to Measurements; sew side and shoulder seams.

Border: With wrong side facing, attach yarn in lower corner of Left Front. Row 1: Work sc evenly along Left Front edge, across back neck edge and along Right Front Edge to lower corner. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in each sc across last row; working along opposite side of starting chains, continue to sc evenly along lower edge. Join with si st to first sc. Break off and fasten. Work one row of Sc evenly along each armhole edge. Join to first sc.

Cord: Holding 2 strands of yarn together, make a chain 1 yard long. Break off and fasten

Doll Tassel (Make 2): Wind yarn 25 times around a 3-inch piece of cardboard. Draw a 6-inch length of yarn under strands at one end and tie securely for top of tassel. Cut strands at opposite end. Wind yarn several times around tassel l/2 inch below top for neck.

For arms, separate 5 strands from rest at each side and tie a red thread tightly around end of each arm.

For face, cut a 1/2-inch circle of pink felt. Embroider blue eyes and red mouth on felt circle. Sew face to tassel above neck.

For hair, cut twelve 3-inch strands of yellow yarn. Wind yellow sewing thread around strands at center and tie. Sew hair to top of face; then with sewing thread, tack to face at each side, 1/2 -inch from center. Trim tassel evenly.

Sew a tassel doll to each end of cord. Slip cord through spaces at front edges as shown and tie in a bow.
